How much does a guided trip cost?
A one-on-one trip is $150 and a trip for two people is $200. Trips last five hours. Fish cleaning is available for an additional $50. For groups of three or more, call Kevin at 918-497-8575 for options.
How long is a trip?
Five hours on the water. That is enough time to catch fish and learn the sonar, patterns, and techniques so you can find crappie on your own.
What days can I book?
Any day of the week except Saturday. Morning starts are typical; exact time and launch ramp are arranged when you book.
Do I need my own rods or tackle?
No. All equipment is provided — rods, reels, jigs, bait, and life jackets. Bring food, drinks, sunscreen, and clothes for the weather.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes. Most anglers 16 and older need a valid Oklahoma fishing license, which takes a few minutes to buy online at Go Outdoors Oklahoma. The guide's license does not cover guests.
Can kids come?
Absolutely — crappie fishing is one of the best ways to get a kid hooked on the outdoors. Fast bites, lots of action, and they can watch the fish on the sonar screen. Kids count toward the two-person capacity, so a parent plus one or two kids should call to sort out the best setup.
Where on Oologah Lake do we meet?
The launch point is arranged when you book. Kevin fishes the whole lake and picks the ramp closest to where the crappie are that week — Hawthorn Bluff, Blue Creek, Spencer Creek, or another ramp.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety first: if wind, lightning, or lake conditions make the trip unsafe or unfishable, Kevin will work with you to reschedule.
Will we actually catch fish?
No honest guide guarantees fish, but Kevin fishes Oologah year-round and frequently hits his limit every time out. The whole service is built around finding fish with modern live sonar — and teaching you to do the same.
Can you clean our catch?
Yes — add $50 to any trip and you drive home with ready-to-cook crappie fillets.
What should I wear?
Dress for the forecast plus wind on open water: layers in spring and fall, sun protection in summer, and warm waterproof gear in winter. The fishing does not stop for cold weather — some of the biggest slabs come in December through February.
